Tour the best of the Red Light District with a private English speaking guide and finish up at a peepshow that has a happy ending for the stag.

Not enough? We'll also sort you out with entry to the hottest lap club in the district and a drink each to help get the celebrations started.

More about the Red Light District

From brothels and sex museums to the high concentration of prostitutes and those famous neon-red windows, De Wallen or De Walletjes is the largest and best known Red Light District in Amsterdam. And, it's history is almost as old as the city itself.

As early as the 15th century and possibly earlier, the first prostitutes arrived to earn a living in the harbour of Amsterdam. The Red Light District is still located in the oldest part of the city and remains the hub of Amsterdam's sex industry.

Although today De Wallen is more or less landlocked and pedestrianised, it originally ran adjacent to the city’s dockland and historically attracted hoards of sex workers due to the consistent influx of sailors and traders passing through the area.

Over the years the stance on the sex industry and the government's opinion has varied. It has changed from alternating between accepting the trade while enforcing rules and regulations to completely outlawing prostitution and therefore forcing the sex industry underground. And then there is what we have today...

Currently, there are approximately 300 sex windows in de Wallen, as well as many sex stores, sex theatres and several brothels. Enjoy...

Other activities in Amsterdam' Red Light District:

You can do more in the Red Light District than just visit or stroll past those famous windows. Yes, nestled among all the neon-led window, Coffee Shops, restaurants and bars, you'll also find the Erotic Museum and the Museum of Prostitution where you can learn about the profession, explore its history and take the opportunity to stand behind a window yourself.

GOOD TO KNOW:

It's good to know a few basics when it comes to the Red Light District. Firstly, the area is safe, countless police officers and security officers patrol the area to keep an eye on things. With that in mind, like in any big city at any major attraction, there is the risk of pickpockets. So, keep a close eye on your personal belongings and don't go waving money around or anything like that.

Taking photos of any kind of the working women, especially in the neon-red windows is an absolute NO go. You can look at them, you can touch them, hell you can even lick them - the windows that is - but do not get out your phone and start snapping away. As we said, the area is pretty-well monitored by security and they will confront you to delete your photos.

Trust us, Blue Lights are not the same as Red! If you do find yourself in De Wallen, or better known as the Red Light District, you may find some windows are illuminated by blue instead of red and this indicates a transgender sex worker is behind the glass. Definitely, something you guys should know before you head off on your stag weekend.

And, yes while there are Coffe Shops, Amsterdam is not as 'drugs are legal' as you may think. So, when it comes to your stag weekend, don't assume you can just light up a joint and start smoking it in the streets. Like anywhere, that's illegal. As is cocaine, LSD and heroin. And, as of 2008, even magic mushrooms have been banned.

It should go without saying, but, if someone approaches you on the street and offers to sell you a bicycle or drugs, REFUSE!
